The words FREE and QUALITY don’t always go hand-in-hand. However, I think you’ll find that those two words are a perfect description for the freebies below. If you haven’t already, go grab the HARMOR PRESET PACK VOL. 1, 10 GRANULAR CINEMATIC PADS, and 5 GRANULAR DRONE PADS.
Like I said, if you haven’t picked these up already then please do so. You won’t be disappointed. I’m especially proud of the HARMOR PRESET PACK VOL. 1. This is a combination of my most used original presets and from my new and experimental presets. I carefully crafted each of the patches in this soundbank to work with various styles of electronic music. Check out the demo below, containing 19 examples of the 57 presets:
The other two sample packs are very good as well. I’ve been experimenting with various vst plugins over the last couple of years and have found one in particular that is well worth mentioning. It is what I used to create both the 10 GRANULAR CINEMATIC PADS and 5 GRANULAR DRONE PADS. The Mangle by Sound Guru has been one of the most important sound design tools I’ve come across in ages. Definitely go check it out! My usual method of creating these ethereal soundscapes with The Mangle starts with me creating loops from other vst synths such as Image-Line’s Harmor or using other samples in Redux from Renoise and then bringing those rendered samples into The Mangle. The results are always interesting and, more often than not, pretty amazing! Some of the more complex pads are the result of layering multiple samples; sometimes they are layered and rendered as one sample and sometimes multiple samples are layered directly in The Mangle.
I’m not going to pretend I’m doing anything unique or original; I’m just wanting to share with you a method that I’ve found that is very effective and useful, not to mention inexpensive. You can pick up The Mangle for about $20 and it is capable of performing tasks usually reserved for plugins costing hundreds of dollars more. You can listen to the demo below and decide for yourself:
That’s about it for now. As for my immediate plans, I’m working on a Harmor Preset Pack Vol. 2, which will contain a lot of basses (Harmor resampling, neuro and reese), a nice FX section (buildups, creative noise, etc.), and more leads. After that is finished I will get back to writing and producing more new music. Lately I’ve not been much in the mood to create any new music; instead, my interests have definitely been more geared toward creating new sounds. I’m glad to be sharing some of these sounds with you and I hope they find a place in your collection and ultimately in some of your music.
